The light doesn't whiten teeth on its own — the gel does. Blue light accelerates the gel's active ingredient; red light supports gum comfort. Neither works alone, and any brand claiming otherwise is stretching the truth.
The Quick Answer
The light doesn't bleach your teeth on its own. The whitening gel does that job. What the light does is speed up how quickly the gel's active ingredient breaks down and gets to work, which is why light-activated kits tend to feel faster than gel alone. That's true of our device too, and I'd rather tell you that upfront than let you think the light is magic.
What the Blue Light Is Actually Doing
Blue LED light sits in the 460±5nm range. When it hits the whitening gel on your teeth, it acts as a catalyst — energising the carbamide peroxide so it breaks down into active oxygen molecules faster. Those molecules are what lift stain compounds out of your enamel, both on the surface and deeper down. Without the light, the same gel still works, just more slowly.
Blue light is also non-UV, which matters. Older whitening lights used UV wavelengths, which carry heat and a small risk of sensitivity or irritation. Blue LED doesn't generate that heat, so it's the safer, more comfortable option — and it's the same category of light technology used in professional dental settings.
Why We Added Red Light Too
Here's the bit most whitening brands don't tell you: red light isn't a whitening light at all. It doesn't touch the peroxide reaction. What red LED light (620±5nm) is designed to do is support your gums and soft tissue — encouraging circulation and helping the mouth feel more comfortable during and after a whitening session.

What the Research Actually Says
I'll be straight with you, because that's the whole point of this brand: the research on LED-accelerated whitening is genuinely mixed. Some studies show light activation meaningfully speeds up peroxide breakdown and improves shade results within a session. Other, more recent studies suggest the light adds less than manufacturers claim, and that peroxide concentration and contact time matter more than the light itself.
What most researchers agree on is this: the light is a catalyst, not the active ingredient. It can help the gel work faster and more evenly, but it isn't going to whiten teeth with no gel involved, and results still depend heavily on your starting shade, staining type, and consistency of use.

No. The light has no whitening effect on its own — it accelerates the chemical reaction of the peroxide gel. Without gel, the light does nothing to tooth colour.
Blue LED light is non-UV and doesn't generate the heat associated with older UV whitening lights, which is why it's considered the safer, more comfortable option for at-home use. As always, individual sensitivity varies, so it's worth following the recommended session times.
